“Flowers in a box”

2026.6.27 Sat - 7.26 Sun

Opening reception : 6.27 Sat 16:00 - 18:00

Two groups of artists were commissioned to produce a mural. There was a dividing partition so that neither team could see the other’s picture before it was finished. When the first had finished, their mural was unveiled. A few weeks later, the second finished too, and viewers could also see their work. They had polished their wall so that it gently mirrored the first mural.

Painting as box; painting as flowers; painting of flowers or broken chair as sculpture. Flowers in a Box revels in the self reference that is the reflected image; the exhibition posits the possibility of an affective escape from an overarching trope of the ready-to-hand.
