Misako & Rosen is pleased to announce our second exhibition with Los Angeles based artist Nathan Hylden.
Born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota (1978), Hylden received his MFA from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena in 2006. Hylden has exhibited internationally at spaces including Johann Konig, Berlin, Richard Telles Fine Art, Los Angeles and Art:Concept, Paris.

The present exhibition consists of two distinct series; paintings executed on aluminum and canvas. In each case,Hylden continues to explore possibilities inherent in painted process – each work embodying the other in so far as the generation of each physically involves the use of another.

In the case of the aluminum paintings, for which Hylden utilizes multiple techniques including silkscreen, brush and spray, painting in general is explicitly invoked through the silkscreened picturing of a blank canvas. The exhibited works on canvas, though evoking atmosphere, are equally invested in the indexical.

Hylden continues to utilize paint for its material, affective quality, resulting in paintings whose visual density is inversely proportional to the simplicity of their production.
