MISAKO & ROSEN is pleased to announce our fifth exhibition with Miki Mochizuka – Haze. Miki Mochizuka was born (1974) and presently lives and works in Shizuoka, Japan.
Mozhizuka’s recent solo exhibitions include Shane Campbell, Chicago(2016), Quadrangle, MISAKO & ROSEN (2014) and The Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum, Shizuoka(2012-13).
In 2017, Mochizuka participated in the group exhibition “Life of Tree” at the Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum, Shizuoka; in 2016, Mochizuka took part in the group exhibition, “Chronicle Chronicle” in Osaka, and in 2014, he exhibited in “The way of painting” at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.

Miki Mochizuka continues to experiment – pushing his painterly practice towards creating completed works which function abstractly – that are not straightforwardly representational. Mochizuka continues to follow his typical methodology – transforming images of daily things into something -other- and through this ongoing practice, he has no doubt in terms of expression. As an audience, we are witness to the new steps Mochizuka takes as his work evolves – shaped canvas, a new touch in the handling of paint – his followers are involved in this flow of process. These new experiments enrich our understanding of painterly expression and allow us to see new formal possibilities.
